Post Weekend Report – Volume 11

Okay so since May 18th. Let me see. BFF and I went to see Pitch Perfect 2. HELLO SO BUYING THAT MOVIE!! That weekend, we hit up Lac La Belle, School Section, Hunter’s Lake and Fowler again (different days) as well as Farm n Fleet and Gander Mountain. I caved and bought all these really cool fishing tackle and put them in a pink tackle box (well more like a container – my real tackle box is brown – it was my gpa’s!)  I’m really excited to use the stuff because it’s so different to the stuff he has and I want to see if the stuff actually works. (Plus its so damn cute! Pinks, dark purples, blues…spinning…flashy. I’m going to catch REALLY stupid fish, aren’t I?)

Memorial Day he and I hiked Lapham Peak and the tower and checked out the area. Stupid me got zero pictures!

Also that weekend, unknowingly, I lost a coworker and good friend to suicide. Everyday, I have to remind myself that he is gone. I’ll never hear his stupid, silly, smart-ass comments again, nor be able to use his always-helping hand. Pete – you really are now ‘off like a prom dress!’. Miss you, man. No one will ever measure up to who you are.

Friday thru Sunday May 29-31, we camped in High Cliff State Park, with the puppy! It was so fun. Friday it rained and we ended up staying at his parents 30 minutes away. Saturday we hit up the many, many stores around there and got a total of 4 pairs of shoes (hey, i only got 2 and one of my pairs were bowling shoes!). Then we set up camp, campfire, etc. We went for ice cream (OMG Pirate’s Booty, so tasty!) and got a picture in the lawn chair.

Chair

June 1st, I bought a Trek from my coworker and gave my BFF my old bike. She and I biked to Miller Park from her house and back – 8+ miles.

Since then, I’ve prety much been planning my birthday week because at my age – no one else is going to celebrate your Birthday for you – make your own exciting plans!!!!!! Stay tuned for the next blog of everything I plan to do!

Post Weekend Report – Volume 10

Okay so I wrote this on 5/18 so lets pretend I actually posted it that day!…..

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Another 2 weeks have flown by! Good thing I didn’t promise I’d post weekly. Oops! Anyways. Wednesday, April 6th, my BFF talked me into 8th row seats behind home plate for the Brewers vs LA Dodgers Game. Then she got got meet Chorizo!
20150506_20042920150506_205414_HDR
 That weekend was Mother’s day and nothing worth photographing. Nice to hang with family though.
The following Wednesday, we got invited to the Rockwell Suite at Miller Park for the Brewers vs. Chicago White Sox game.  Who would turn down free food, drinks and great seats?
20150513_183355
Sunday, May 17th we hiked Scuppernong Springs in Ottawa, WI. SO Gorgeous! Forget how I love hiking when I end up doing so much fishing with him (which is fun too but this is ‘my’ thing!)
Post Weekend Report – Volume 9
Another 2 weeks have flown by! On April 25th, we (and my bff) went to Stein & Dine which is like a trade show with beers and cheese and sausage and…mm. No pictures (well, none that I can post safely!) but it was fine and, of course, Lots of beers!
Sunday April 26th was the Brownie Shuffle  at my local State Park. I was the last in our group and wow was I sore the next day. I did find a new friend to run the end of the route with – all of her friends bailed on her too! That afternoon we popped out to Ottawa Lake and got 5 different species of fish – trout, bluegill, sunfish, bass and perch!
Friday, May 1st we went to the Rock River (just by my apartment) and he caught a huge catfish!!! He’s going to smoke it, he thinks. 2015-05-01 20.37.58
2015-05-01 20.41.07
Saturday, May 2nd was Opening Weekend for fishing and we took my BFF out fishing. We caught sunfish, bluegill, trout and he caught a bass. After that, we met my dad and my brother for my brother’s 33rd birthday dinner. Then we stopped by his coworker’s house for a little bit.
Sunday, May 3rd, my family (and my friend Linda) did the MS Walk – from the Summerfest Grounds towards Veterans Park and back. With Grebe’s donuts! MMM
After that, he went to Moose Lake and caught like 9 crappies. I stayed back to chill on the patio with the puppy.
And now, it’s Monday (May the fourth be with you!) and its back to work. Have a great week everyone!
Rocksbox
Thanks to Jen’s post at JenDoeBakes, I got a free month of Rocksbox!
It shows up in this beautiful package – with a return UPS label included for free shipping back to them!
2015-04-21 18.09.41
Once I opened the box, I had a nice note from a lady at the company telling me she saw that I showed interest in the necklace and built a combo out of it (you can rate pieces on their site so they know what you like!) As her letter shows, you also get $10 each month of “Shine Spend” that can go towards any piece that you’re just dying to own.
20150422_093358    2015-04-22 09.33.44
Inside the box was the combination she built for me. I didn’t want to get too extravagant on my first box so these pieces are pretty simple. Next box though…we’ll see!! Stay tuned, in the next couple weeks I will return this box to get another fun box!
Post Weekend Report – Volume 8
So last week I was sick. Cold and infection that I finally went to the doctor for and got drugs. A lot of slacking last week and I am NOT good at sitting around…although I can handle it when I’m sick. Lots of *Friends* have been watched LOL
Friday night we went to the Fox River. Figured I could sit there for a couple hours and watch the river float by. He caught a sucker and I caught (AKA ‘he gave me the rod and I reeled it in’) a 10 lb carp. Fun but not good to eat. I made him hold mine so I could take a picture of it. He kept his and smoked it over the weekend.
Saturday it was so nice out so we cruised up the Rock River. No fishing but its amazing to check out the fields that are flooded each spring.
Gma W’s Potato Salad
So I have two *ah-maz-ing* potato salad recipes. One is my grandmother’s, and one is his grandmother’s. I will be nice and post his gma’s recipe first. Next time I make it, I promise to take pictures and add to this blog!
10 small red potatoes (boiled with jackets & cooled several hours)
4 hard-boiled eggs
1 medium onion, chopped
2 1/2 tablespoons sugar
10 tablespoons (or 3/4c) heaping salad dressing
3 tablespoons yellow mustard
2-3 tablespoons white vinegar
Salt & pepper to taste
Peel skins off potatoes & slice. Combine with sliced eggs, mix with all other ingredients.
Easter Bunny Chow
Okay so sorry for posting this like…WEEKS after Easter but..yum! Totally found this on pinterest so I  am not saying its my own but it’s something so tasty I had to post!
Ingredients
  • 6 cups Chex cereal
  • ⅓ cup peanut butter, creamy
  • 1 cup white chocolate chips
  • 2 pkg. Vanilla Instant Pudding, sugar free (1 oz. pkgs.)
  • Optional: Easter M&M’s
  • Optional:  ¼ cup sprinkles
Instructions
  1. In a bowl add your cereal; set aside.
  2. In a microwave safe bowl add peanut butter and white chocolate chips. Microwave for 30 seconds, mix well; if the mixture is not creamy, place back in the microwave for 10 second intervals, mix until creamy and no lumps remain.
  3. Pour peanut butter mixture over cereal; add sprinkles, and mix until all the cereal is covered in the mixture. Be careful not to crush the cereal.
  4. Place cereal in a large Ziploc bag and add both packages of vanilla instant pudding. Seal the bag and shake until all the cereal is covered.
  5. Place cereal on a baking sheet and let it dry. At this time you can mix in M&M’s & Sprinkles and seal in an air tight container.
Post Weekend Report – Volume 7
Not too much lately. Had Easter Saturday at my parental’s – my dad got a hold of these diaries from his paternal grandmother. Apparently, she wrote one page per day, one book per year, from at least 1918 to at least 1968 (earliest and latest they’ve found so far). Amazing that she wrote almost everyday and amazing the things they did – hello hand wash & line dry laundry and using a horse to plow the land!? Just..amazing.
Anyways. Had Easter Sunday at his parents in Oshkosh. Decided on our summer vacation location in Rhinelander. The website looks amazing and I hope it lives up to the pictures. So excited and I can’t wait until August.
Got another tattoo on Wednesday April 8th. And dancing Snoopy makes tattoo #11.
Got a major cold that day too. Sucks but I gave up on Sunday the 12th, I had to get outta the house! Went fishing – got to use my grandfather’s fishing rod on the river! Caught some icky carp and tossed them back. Should have taken pictures of them too!
2015-04-12 12.34.51
After fishing, we stopped at his buddy’s house to fix his gutter, and since I’m fairly useless when there are 3 men around, he sent me around his 13 acres with the 4-wheeler. Not complaining!
Post Weekend Report – Volume 6
Okay okay so I missed a month. I suck. Get over it.
So we went to the Milwaukee County Zoo on March 7th for free. We were only there for a few hours but it was fun and we got to see alot of good stuff. He hasn’t been to the zoo in forever so yay!
Sunday, March 8th we tried to fish and got nothing so we took a walk on the River. Yes, ON the river. It was sooo much fun! You could have caught me, more than once, laying on the ice, taking pics with my phone of the ice shelves.
hello, random puppy shot:
2015-03-13 17.43.23
Skip ahead a couple weeks. Friday, March 20th it was nice and the river had melted (yes…in 10 days the river had melted) and we took a drive…
2015-03-20 18.05.40
That weekend, I had a run with my girls at the local HS. Free drinks!
2015-03-21 10.50.34
To end March, I rode around with my family. We hit up the Clock Shadow Creamery, Indulgence Chocolatiers, Soup Brothers and Purple Door Ice cream. Soup Brothers, of course, doesn’t have a website. Imagine the Soup Nazi from Seinfeld. Yup.
2015-03-27 12.14.18
And yes, those are Whiskey and Brandy Old Fashioned Flavors!
Sunday March 29th we met up my friend Megan from college and her hubby and we went to New Glarus Brewery. The building was built in 2008 and it looks SO cool. Me the idiot, didn’t take one picture the entire time. We did get to try a bunch of their beers that they don’t sell in many stores. Plus they don’t sell outside of Wisconsin at all. So there Illinois!
Anyways. Onto April!
Post Weekend Report – Volume 5
okay so I skipped a week, sue me LOL
Week of Feb 16-20 was pretty crazy! I went to 2 Illinois offices on 2 days and worked from home on a third. Kind of nice to not have to be in my office everyday, all day. Sucky part was the driving 2.5 hours one way, sleep there, meeting for 4 hours (they forgot me when it came to lunch) and 2.5 hour drive back. Ah well I get paid for it!
Saturday the 21st he fished while I went to the gym. That night we hit up the local beer show called “Food & Froth” at the Milwaukee Public Museum – great to try a bunch of new flavors – and great to see an old friend at her own Homebrew station – check out what she made for the Milwaukee chapter of Barley’s Angels that night! She made the top three and the mead at the bottom. YUM!
2015-02-21 21.56.04
Sunday February 22nd, he wanted to go fishing again so I said, lets try for walleye – so we went out from 4-8pm. I got 2 walleye that were too small to keep, he got a bass and then together we caught the biggest northern pike he’s ever seen! 35″ long and we think 10-12lbs!
2015-02-22 20.06.332015-02-22 20.10.00
The following week wasn’t much to talk about except on Thursday the 26th my girls talked each other into try “Insanity” at the gym, and boy was it insane! Good thing it was only a half hour. Weekend of Feb 28/Mar 1, his parents came down. They met him out fishing on Saturday (I went to the gym, met them later) to find that he finally got a walleye we could keep! 21″ long.
That night, his parents met my brother and my father for dinner and after that we went to the Greater Milwaukee Auto Show. My brother loves that kind of stuff, and his dad is semi-interested in a new truck, so that was fun to wander for a couple hours.  Here is my brother checking them out.
2015-02-28 21.18.20
Sunday we went fishing again and got not a darn thing! But we did grill out brats on the ice and of course, cheese, crackers and real venison sausage (hello, Wisconsin!?)…not to mention, drinking the beer he’s been brewing lately!
